United States Bureau of Engraving and Printing Production
Below you will find annual production numbers (1980-2010) for United States Currency as distributed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP). For Fiscal Year 2011:
- The Bureau of Engraving and Printing produced approximately 23.5 million notes a day with a face value of approximately $453 million
- The Bureau of Engraving and Printing delivered approximately 5.8 billion notes at an average cost of 9.1 cents per note
- 95% of the notes printed each year are used to replace notes already in, or taken out of circulation
- Between the Fort Worth, Texas and the Washington, DC Facilities approximately 8.5 tons of ink per day were used
